• January 2009 - Maclab Founders Recognized with Northern Lights Award.
As a dusting of snow fell across the city, many of Edmonton’s luminary professionals gathered together at the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Ball, which was held on January 23, 2009 at the Shaw Conference Center.
This year, the chamber's prestigious Northern Lights Award of Distinction was presented to Sandy Mactaggart and posthumously to his partner Jean de La Bruyere. Together Mr. Mactaggart and Mr. de La Bruyere founded the Maclab Construction Company in 1954. Today, Maclab Enterprises is the largest, privately held, residential property holder in Alberta & Northwest Territories. Over decades of service, Mr. Mactaggart and Mr. de La Bruyere contributed generously to Edmonton's arts and cultural communities.
The Northern Lights award of Distinction publically honors individuals and organizations that have made positive and lasting contributions to the Edmonton community. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in such areas as environmental responsibility, community service, educational advancement and economic development.
The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual awards program in conjunction with numerous sponsors with the aim of recognizing and celebrating excellence across the business spectrum. As part of the award ceremony, all were treated to a video presentation which weaved the tale of Maclab history – from founding to present day. We invite you to enjoy this video below.
