Community Involvement

Since our founding in the 1950’s, Maclab’s growth has paralled that of Albertaand Western Canada. . As we have prospered alongside our region, the company and its employees have been fortunate to participate in the creation of, among others, the Art Gallery of Alberta, the Citadel Theatre, the Kinsmen Field House, the Opera Society, the Commonwealth Games Society, and the Boys’ and Girls’ Club. We are proud to remain active in local, regional and national philanthropic endeavors.

Our employees have been, or currently are, directors and officers of Economic Development Edmonton, the Citadel Theatre, the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity – Edmonton, the Winspear Foundation, the Canadian Olympic Association, the Urban Development Institute, the Canadian Equestrian Federation, the Edmonton Downtown Development Corporation, the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club, the Fort Edmonton Historical Foundation, the United Way, the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, the Royal Canadian Navy Fleet Air Arm, the Banff Centre and many boards and councils associated with the University of Alberta and the University of Alberta Alumni Association.

Maclab has donated climate controlled exhibition space to the Art Gallery of Alberta, a one hundred-acre nature sanctuary to the University of Alberta, a thrust stage to the Citadel Theatre and the student lounge to the University Of Alberta School Of Business. We have endowed several Fellowships at the University of Alberta, full scholarships for Alberta under-graduates at Harvard University, and partial scholarships for Albertans attending the Harvard Business School.
